Pool Table? Yes or no?
From January 2018
It's a no from me!
The biggest controversy so far has surrounded the removal of the pool table. There has been a few very vocal comments like 'you won't last without it', 'its the only reason that people come in' and 'I bet thats back before the summer'.
Sorry to burst your bubbles but if it takes a pool table to generate enough trade to cover all the costs of running a pub I am afraid Indian restuarant it is, or worse demolished to make way for even more homes like The Rifleman's and other old man's pubs. No the answer to keeping the doors open is to cater for more than the dozen regulars that played pool.
We need more women in here, diluting the sausage-fest. We need afternoon teas, coffee breaks and lazy light lunches. We need after school debriefs. We need after work drinks for both white and blue collar workers. We need familes having an informal meal after a hectic day and now not being bothered to cook anything and not fancying a take away either.
We need late night night caps. We need date nights. We need a gathering of freinds. We need pre-dinner drinks.
We need you, Wilmslow...
(steps down from soapbox!)
